Preservation Breeder | Health‑Tested
Temperament‑Focused | North Carolina
At Camelot House, we’re more than a breeder—we’re caretakers of the Golden Retriever’s future. Located in the Piedmont of North Carolina, our focus is on quality over quantity: breeding for health, structure, temperament, and lifelong companionship. We preserve the breed standard as defined by the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) and the AKC, breeding only when it truly benefits the breed.
We maintain membership in respected breed organizations and uphold the GRCA Code of Ethics, guiding every decision we make.
Our Values
Health Is Paramount
All breeding dogs undergo extensive testing (plus additional testing as they become available):
Board‑Certified OFA Hips, Elbows, Eyes & Heart
Genetic testing for prcd‑PRA, GR‑PRA1/PRA2, Ichthyosis, Degenerative Myelopathy, and NCL
Test results are publicly accessible for transparency via OFA and breed databases.
Temperament & Structure First
Each breeding is carefully selected by pedigree, structure, temperament, and compatibility. Our evaluations happen through every step, ensuring we uphold breed standards and place puppies thoughtfully.
Multipurpose Goldens
Our lines are bred for versatility—whether in the ring, in performance sports, or as loyal family companions. Notably, Daisy’s offspring and legacy include dogs titled in field, rally, scent work, agility, therapy, and more.
Daisy was our foundation—an example of temperament, structure, and devotion. She earned her TT (Temperament Test) title through the American Temperament Test Society, her CGC, CCA, BCAT, Dock Novice, and Tricks Novice titles. She was the NADD-AKC Eukanuba 2016 National Diving Dog Champion (Open Class, Novice). Daisy’s offspring continue her legacy in performance, therapy, and loving homes throughout the U.S. Though Daisy has passed, her influence continues strongly through our program.
Our Foundation: Daisy
How We Raise Our Puppies
Each Camelot House litter is raised in our home, exposed thoughtfully to foster confidence and adaptability:
Scent/Sound and More Introductions
Introduced to household sounds, textures, surfaces, and novel scents during early critical periods.
Potty Introduction
Introduced to potty grate foundations—not trained, but given early structure.
Daily Handling
Daily handling ensures exposure to different people and gentle environmental changes.
Temperament Evaluations
At around 7½ weeks, puppies receive temperament assessments and are matched thoughtfully—not by color or pick order.
Our program is modeled after best practices such as Avidog protocols, building a confident foundation upon which new owners can continue learning. We commit to lifetime support for every puppy placed.
Affiliations & Memberships
We proudly maintain our affiliations as part of our commitment to excellence and breed stewardship. These affiliations support health standards, ongoing education, and promotion of the multipurpose Golden temperament we strive for.
Lifetime Commitment
When you bring a Camelot House puppy home, you're joining our extended family. We stay committed for life—offering guidance, support, and help should ever any circumstance arise in which you cannot keep your dog.
We encourage puppy owners to continue early socialization and formal training through their first year. Many of our families continue enrichment in obedience, rally, scent work, dock diving, or therapy—continuing Daisy’s legacy of active, confident Goldens.
